Our continuing "Spotlight Series": Christian
Cooperative Extension Service provides a range of educational programming and activities to support the well-being of Kentuckians. One good example is in Christian County where a number of local agencies, including Christian County Extension, offered "The World's Greatest Babyshower" because many first-time mothers and fathers need information about caring for their babies and don’t know where to get it. The program consisted of three educational sessions (Brain Development, Car Seat Safety and Postpartum Depression), and an Ask-A-Doc session. The 125 expectant mothers attending reported that 91% of them learned techniques to help with brain development of their young children; 99% learned about the importance of car seat safety and the correct installation of them; and 94% learned about postpartum depression and ways to cope.
